28th Annual Orchid Show Kicks off January 28

HYANNIS – The Cape and Islands Orchid Society presents its 28th Annual Orchid Show, “Orchid Passion” with displays of thousands of blooming exotic plants.

Organizers invite you to come in from the winter chill and wander through a tropical garden and delight your senses – as exotic orchids surround you in a dazzling mix of colors and shapes.

The event takes place Saturday, January 28 and Sunday, January 29 from 9-5 p.m. at the Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis.

Admission is $10 for one day and $15 for both days.

There will be tours, workshops, plants and supplies for sale, as well as speakers over the two days to add interest and information on the varieties of orchids, their care and history.

The speakers for the event on Saturday include Daryl Yerdon of Kelley’s Korner Orchid Supplies to discuss the “Basics of Orchid Care and Repotting”, Cordellia Head from J & L Orchids to talk about “Growing Miniature Orchids in the Home” and Beth Davis from Waldor Orchids to discuss “Orchids are Different but not Difficult”.

On Sunday, the speakers include Carri Raven-Riemann of the orchidPhile, Terry Kowalczuk from Flora Peculia and Glen Decker of Piping Rock Orchids and he will discuss “Hunting for the Elusive Orchids”.
