Barnstable Superintendent Search Scheduled To Wrap Up By End of The Year

barnstable high schoolBARNSTABLE – The search committee looking for the next Superintendent of Barnstable schools hopes to have a candidate in place by the end of the year.

The search committee will interview the finalists in early December, with visits to the schools planned after that.

School committee chairwoman Margeaux Weber says they are looking for a candidate with a commitment to Barnstable. “That was important to everyone in the community for something for us to look for, somebody that was committed to the area.”

Weber added that they want someone committed to the philosophy that all students can learn.

There are three finalists, all of whom are currently serving in school administration in Massachusetts: Sara Ahern, the Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Holliston, Kathleen Burnham, the Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Wilmington, and Meg Mayo-Brown, the Superintendent of Schools in Fall River.

The three were chosen from a field of eight semi-finalists. The search committee received 19 applications.

The Barnstable school superintendent position has a salary range of $175,000 to $200,000.

Former superintendent Dr. Mary Czajkowski left Barnstable for Lexington at the end of June after four years on the job. Bill Butler, the district’s attorney, has been serving as interim superintendent.
