BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts lawmakers are holding a public hearing on more than two dozen environmental bills at the Statehouse this week.
Among the bills set to be heard Tuesday by the Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture include proposals to restrict the use of certain pesticides around children and require local approval for low-level radioactive waste sites. Others would require producers to take responsibility for the collection, reuse and recycling of discarded electronic products.
Other bills deal with safer alternatives to toxic chemicals, an underground storage tank petroleum product cleanup fund, and changes to the state’s toxics use reduction act.
Tuesday is going to be a busy day at the Statehouse with several other committees holding public hearings, including the committees on housing, public health, financial services, consumer protection, telecommunications, tourism, and public service.
