Cape Cod Forum in March to Highlight ACLU Freedom Agenda

BARNSTABLE – The Cape and Islands Democratic Council, in conjunction with the Massachusetts ACLU, will host a public forum at the end of March, which will focus on the ACLU’s Freedom Agenda.

Massachusetts ACLU Political Director Whitney Taylor will give a presentation covering aspects of the Freedom Agenda including defense of immigrants, sanctuary cities, reproductive freedom, racial injustice, and LGBT equality.

The Cape and Islands Democratic Agenda feels that given the current political climate in the country, the time for this discussion is now.

“To me there’s a tremendous amount of anxiety out there,” said Bob Isadore, President of the council. “I have not seen so many people afraid of their government than I have in the past month.”

The presentation will also include efforts that are being made in the courts, state legislature, and at the municipal level to protect and expand civil rights for all people in Massachusetts.

The forum will be held on Friday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Church of Barnstable located at 3330 Main St. in Barnstable. Admission is free.
