Cape Cod Museum of Art Presents First All-Member Exhibition

DENNIS – The Cape Cod Museum of Art is presenting its first all-member exhibition, juried by Kevin Howard, former President and CEO of the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod.

Howard selected work from 47 artists out of the 220 submissions by 81 members, focusing on the theme for the 35th Anniversary presentation: “Looking Ahead”.

Artists were encouraged to respond to the forward-looking concept as it builds on other Anniversary programs that have honored the Museum’s past.

It suggests a point of reference from which the artist or subject may view the near and far in vision, in space or in time.

The broad theme is open to each artist’s unique inspiration, and was chosen to encourage a variety of interpretations.

Thus, there is a broad range of media and subject matter in the show, demonstrating the diversity of art being produced in the region.

The exhibition runs through January 29.

Also, a comprehensive exhibition titled “Sam Barber’s Cape Cod: Reflections of Fifty Years”, runs through January 15.

The exhibit celebrates the landscape painting of one of Cape Cod’s signature artists, who is celebrating 50 years of working on the Cape.

Founded in 1981, the Cape Cod Museum of Art is committed to collecting, preserving, exhibiting and interpreting works of art that have been inspired or been created by artists on the Cape and Islands.
