Cape Cod Toy Library Making Strides to Get Off the Ground

HARWICH PORT- Spearheaded by a local Chatham resident, the Lower Cape could soon see a new Toy Library for the children of the community.

“We are working on securing an essential location to have a community play learning center as well as a toy lending, or play material lending resource for the greater Cape community,” said Deb Wilsea, Founder and President of the effort.

The problem with the project remains to be financing. Various locations have been considered and rent, renovations, insurance, and other up-front costs remain a significant concern.

As part of the planning and fundraising process, representatives with Cape Cod Toy Library Inc. have already met with teachers, healthcare providers, parents, community members, and public officials to see what the community can offer.

“We have achieved raising a $50,000 deposit towards the purchase of a building located at 432 Rt.28 in Harwich Port. We have also achieved raising funds for the investment of all the do-diligence as well,” said Wilsea.

In an effort to raise more funds for the building, the CCTL will also be hosting a series of special showings of the popular Mister Rogers “Won’t you be my Neighbor” film.

Viewings will take place July 20th, 22nd, 23rd, 25th, and August 2nd at the Chatham Orpheum Theater.
