CENTERVILLE – The Centerville Public Library will be busy to kick off the new year.

The library has announced a series of events for January, including a number of art-based events.

Local artist Ellen Moran will have her work on display throughout the month in the library’s main reading room. She taught art in the Falmouth Public Schools for 32 years.

A 7-week art appreciation program will launch on January 26. Half hour film lessons on the history of European Art, art from between the two World Wars, and the birth of impressionism will be held each week from 1 to 2 p.m. until March 9th.

On January 18th, attendees will be able to ask questions of a public health news. Registered nurse Linda Iafrate will be on hand to provide resources, support, and take blood pressure and blood sugar readings. The event is sponsored by the Barnstable Department of Public Health.

The library will host an antiques appraisal on January 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. Sandwich resident Henry Callan will handle the appraisals. Attendees need to arrive by 12:30 and stay for the duration of the event. Coins, stamps, or jewelry will not be appraised, but Callan will be able to look at photos of larger items that cannot be brought in.
