FALL RIVER – A conference featuring representatives of leading maritime and research institutions on Ocean Energy in New England is coming to the region next month.

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is hosting the Marine Renewable Energy Conference at its Fall River campus.

The conference will focus on ocean energy in New England in relation to wind and water.

“This is about bringing together the marine and maritime technology, science, energy and ecosystem around this new and clean form of energy,” said Conference manager Maggie Merrill.

“There are a lot of assets around the Cape and the Islands and southeastern New England that can be brought to bear in the development of these new industries and technology.”

Representatives from Orsted Wind, Vineyard Wind, ORPC, Resolute Marine, Verdant Power and many others will provide commentary and insight into challenges, opportunities and commonalities in developing all forms of ocean energy.

The UMass Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is located at 151 Maritime Street in Fall River.

“The people who would want to attend would be folks who want to get into the business, who want to learn about a job in the marine supply chain, folks who have boats, and people who may be interested in some of the jobs that might be available,” Merrill said.

The conference will be held on May 23 from 10:00 a.m. through 5:30 p.m.
