TRURO – State Senator for the Cape and Islands Julian Cyr is one of 350 democrats across the country receiving an endorsement from former President Barack Obama. The incumbent Democrat is running for re-election against Republican John Flores.

“The Democratic Party has always made the biggest difference in the lives of the American people when we lead with conviction, principle, and bold, new ideas. Our incredible array of candidates up and down the ticket, all across the country, make up a movement of citizens who are younger, more diverse, more female than ever before,” said President Obama. “I’m proud to endorse so many of them today, and I’m eager to continue making the case for why they deserve our votes this November.”

“It means so much to have the endorsement of President Obama,” added Cyr.  “The President’s path breaking run helped to inspire my own public service, and the opportunity to intern and later organize on his behalf were seminal in my experience.”

Cyr interned at the Obama White House in 2009 and organized on the President’s re-election campaign in 2012.

Cyr is the only incumbent legislator in Massachusetts to be endorsed by President Obama in 2018.
