BREWSTER – The Animal Rescue League of Boston has announced that a pony and donkey rescued in January are now ready to be adopted.
An 11 year old gelded Donkey named “Brighty”, and “Misty”, a 16 year old Mare Pony, were found at a farm property in Bristol County during a routine inspection.
They were discovered without adequate shelter on a day that the temperature was just 12 degrees, with a wind chill of minus 20. Aside from being exposed to frigid temperatures, it was discovered that they were the victims of other types of neglect, including a lack of clean water and an inconsistent diet.
Their hooves were also in need of immediate attention, having been found to be badly overgrown.
The owner was determined to have an inability and a lack of desire to provide the pair livable conditions and agreed to surrender them to the ARL.
Their rehabilitation, which took nearly a month, is now complete.
Despite having suffered deplorable conditions, they are very friendly and enjoy human company and contact.
Due to their close bond, they will only be adopted as a pair.
