HARWICH – The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod and its employees have raised more than $2,500 for the American Red Cross to help with relief efforts after Hurricane Harvey.
Earlier this month, employees of the bank held a special charity Jeans Day to raise money.
After raising nearly $1,300, the bank responded in kind by matching the employee donation.
A check was recently presented with the total to Executive Director of the American Red Cross of the Cape, Islands and Southeastern Massachusetts, Hilary Greene.
“I’m so proud of the compassion and initiative of the team here at The Coop,” said President and CEO Lisa Oliver. “The devastation from Harvey is widespread…these funds will help folks start to put their lives back together. When events like Harvey happen, the boundaries of our “community” expand…our employees recognize this, and I’m proud to be a part of The Coop Team.”
Wearing jeans is encouraged every other Friday in exchange for a donation to one of 26 local nonprofits selected by the employees.
Every year, The Coop’s employees raise hundreds of dollars for dozens of local charitable organizations.
