SANDWICH – A crash early this morning on Route 6 near exit 3 claimed the life of a Falmouth man
Police said Alexander D. Holmes, 26, was driving a 1998 Lexus ES300 east on the highway around 1:15 a.m. when his car struck a traffic cone that then hit a State Police cruiser on a detail.
According to State Police Trooper Gregory Furtado, who was providing security at the construction site, after striking the cone, the car then crashed into the rear of a flatbed truck.
Furtado requested additional troopers and emergency medical services, according to police. He then removed Holmes from the car and rendered first aid and CPR.
Holmes was taken to Cape Cod Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
State Police continue to investigate.
