Heritage Museums and Gardens Transforms Into “Gardens Aglow”

gardensSANDWICH – Heritage Museums and Gardens in Sandwich will turn into a Winter Wonderland on Friday.

The annual family holiday event, Gardens Aglow, opens and runs each Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening through December 18 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

More than 10 miles of holiday lights will adorn Heritage’s 100 acres of gardens and woodlands to create a twinkling wonderland.

“The lights are really there to highlight the natural wonder and the natural beauty of Heritage,” said Heritage Museums and Gardens President and CEO Ellen Spear.

Throughout the grounds and buildings, visitors can enjoy family-friendly activities, roast marshmallows, enjoy performances, see displays of model trains and visit with Santa Claus.

“It really is a wonderful time to stroll and see these beautiful twinkly lights throughout the garden,” said Spear.

There have been new additions to the seasonal event.

The indoor model train exhibit has been expanded to include two levels and there are new activities and indoor displays.

Among the features at Gardens Aglow, include an antique carousel, a reindeer scavenger hunt, ice sculpture demonstration and dance performances by community groups.

For the third year in a row, Heritage is partnering with the Sandwich Food Pantry to assist area families.

Visitors are asked to bring school supplies and donations will be set up in The Shop at Heritage at the entrance of the property.

Tickets are $15 for member adults and $5 for member youth, $18 for non-member adults and $7 for non-member youth.
