HYANNIS: From fresh paint, new doorways, and new ice, the Hyannis Youth and Community Center will be getting a much needed upgrade after 10 years in service.
This massive refurbishment does come with some down time for the center, the complex will be closed from April 29th through May 13th to give work-crews the needed time to get the project done on schedule.
HYCC’s Patti Machado said “the walking track is getting a huge facelift, they’ll be scrubbing and cleaning that entire part it will look brand new when we get it finished.”
Along with the walking track, improvements to the skating rinks will be done, along with other fixes such as new lighting at the indoor basketball gym.
HYCC does want members to know that they will still be available to help the public during construction. You can get into contact with staff by calling the Recreation Department.
The front lobby of the building will re-open to the public on May 17th for beach and parking stickers, and the entire project is set to complete in late May.
