SANDWICH – Earlier this month, Frito-Lay’s filmed a television commercial in the Town of Sandwich, featuring the town as the inspiration for its new lobster roll flavored potato chips.

Now Frito-Lay’s has released the finished commercial.

Sandwich Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jay Pateakos said having the commercial shoot in Sandwich was a big win for the town.

“It’s a huge plus for the community,” he said.

Pateakos said, he has heard that the flavor is like a sour cream and onion flavor with a hint of lobster.

A number of people who have businesses in Sandwich can be seen in the commercial.

The text on the chip bag mentions Sandwich and features Sandwich locations, including the famous boardwalk.

Scenes in the commercial are set in Beth’s Bakery in the heart of Sandwich, among other locations in town.

“They went around town, they went to the marina, they went to the Pilot House, but the crux of the commercial was at Beth’s,” Pateakos said.

Pateakos said many people assumed that Lay’s chose the Town of Sandwich because the name doubles as a food that is often eaten with chips. But he said in talking to members of the production crew, that was not the only attraction.

“Frito Lay’s was targeting historic towns and they found something they liked in Sandwich which is great because there’s plenty of historic towns all over New England but they picked us,” he said.

There are two versions of the commercial, a 30-second version and a two-minute version. Both are below.
