HYANNIS – Bakes for Breast Cancer Cape & Islands will be held across the Cape from August 2 to August 8.
Bakeries, cafes, pastry shops, and restaurants will be raising money for breast cancer research throughout this time by donating 100% of proceeds from one dessert item, or 50% of the proceeds from the entire dessert menu to Bakes for Breast Cancer.
“What’s really great about us is that you could go to, say, Osterville Fish Market, and when you take your fish home, you could take home chocolate cookies,” said Carol Sneider, Founder of Bakes for Breast Cancer Cape and Islands in a recent Sunday Journal Interview.
Proceeds will be supporting the research of Dr. Rachel Freedman at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Freedman’s work centers around treatment for older breast cancer patients, an often-overlooked population in research on the disease.
Since its creation, the organization as a whole has raised over $2 million for breast cancer research and awareness.
After the Cape & Islands event, Bakes for Breast Cancer Massachusetts, and Bakes for Breast Cancer Rhode Island will both be held from Friday, October 1 to Sunday, October 7.
