Mannal Plans Formal State Senate Campaign Launch

MannalHYANNIS – State Representative Brian Mannal (D-Centerville) will formally launch his campaign for the Cape and Islands State Senate seat Saturday in Hyannis.

Mannal announced last month that he would run for the spot being vacated by fellow Democrat Dan Wolf, instead of running for re-election.

Mannal initially won the state representative seat in 2012 by defeating then-incumbent Demetrius Atsalis. He won re-election in 2014 against Republican Adam Chaprales.

Mannal will hold a campaign kickoff at Embargo on Main St. beginning at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Other Democrats in the state senate race include County Commissioner Sheila Lyons and Truro resident Julian Cyr.

Brewster Selectman Ben deRuyter dropped out earlier this month.

Republicans in the running include James Crocker and Anthony Schiavi.
