Maritime Museum Event to Highlight Local Seafood

Maritime MuseumHYANNIS – For the third straight year the Cape Cod Maritime Museum will highlight locally harvested seafood with its Ocean to Cocktail Table celebration.

The event, which features locally sourced fish and vegetables prepared by Treats at the Dennis Inn and sponsored by Cape Air, will be held Thursday, December 8 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Hot seafood hors d’oeuvres with lobster, scallops, oysters, clams and tuna will be served, along with the museum’s signature Spiced Island Rum Punch. A cash raw bar will also be available.

Attendees will also receive tours of two museum exhibits: “Catboats to Clipper Ships: Boatbuilding on Cape Cod,” and the million dollar Maritime Fine Art Exhibit “The Lure and Lore of Marine Art.”

The Cape’s largest scrimshaw collection will also be on display, along with the Cook Boat Shop where Truro Central School 6th graders and the Hyannis Youth and Community Center afterschool program have been building boats.

A silent auction will also be held to support the museum’s STEM Gains STEAM maritime themed classes for local elementary and middle school students.

Tickets are $35 and may be purchased at capecodmaritimemuseum.org.
