BARNSTABLE – A Mashpee man, who was a retired New York pediatrician, was sentenced Tuesday for the possession and distribution of child pornography.
Daniel O’Hern, 65, will serve 63 months in prison along with a $12,500 fine.
O’Hern pleaded guilty to the charges in April.
Law enforcement discovered he was distributing the material in May of 2014 using a public file sharing program which posted pictures and videos of minors between the ages of five and 12 years old.
Federal agents raided O’Hern’s home in June of 2014 and seized several computers, external hard drives, hundreds of DVDs and other media storage devices.
O’Hern was arrested following the raid and was held in federal custody since that time.
The prison sentence will be followed by five years of supervised release and O’Hern will be required to register as a sex offender with the Sex Offender Registration Board.
