BARNSTABLE – The Mercy Otis Warren Woman of the Year Committee for their annual award.
The distinction honors Cape Cod women who contribute greatly to the arts, business, education, community involvement or volunteerism.
Nomination papers may be found at area libraries, town halls and online at www.barnstablecounty.org.
Nominations are due by April 17th, 2017.
Mercy Otis Warren, born in 1728, is sometimes referred to as the “first lady of the American Revolution.”
She was active in political life and encouraged colonial resistance against British authority, penned many poems and plays, and emphasized the importance of women in society.
