NANTUCKET – Free home energy audits are being conducted through Thursday on Nantucket in a collaboration between National Grid and Housing Assistance Corporation.
HAC professionals will inspect resident’s attics, basements and walls to recommend weatherization measures along with replacing incandescent light bulbs with energy efficient LEDs.
Residents will also have their refrigerator metered for possible replacement and will receive general information on how to reduce their electric usage.
The audits are available for those who are receiving fuel assistance or who are on a discounted electric rates.
If a home is selected for weatherization work, a contractor would be sent out to make necessary upgrades by December.
