PROVIDENCE – National Grid has received recognition from the Enviornmental Protection Agency for its innovative work on clean air and climate change.
The power utility company which provides electricity to Nantucket was named a 2016 Clean Air Excellence Award winner.
The award is given to state, local, tribal and private sector programs that educate the public to improve air quality or reduce air pollutants or greenhouse gas emissions.
The non-profit organization SmartPower also received the award.
The EPA gave out Clean Air Excellence Awards in six different categories. National Grid and SmartPower won for education and outreach. The other categories include clean air technology, community action, regulatory and policy innovation, transportation and energy innovation and the Tomas W. Zosel Individual Award.
