pt051315 bike rack on carWELLFLEET – In an effort to reduce the number and severity of bicycle accidents, the Cape Cod National Seashore will be holding its 5th annual Bicycle Safety at the Seashore program beginning today at the Province Lands Visitor Center.

The event will feature helmet fittings, activities for kids, bicycle safety checks and educational displays.

There will also be prizes for participation such as helmets, other bike accessories and coupons.

The program also helps to promote the Healthy Parks, Healthy People program that is underway at national parks across the nation.

The Cape Cod National Seashore’s Bicycle Safety Committee is hosting the event and says it will continue educational opportunities focused on providing awareness about bicycle safety in the park.

The program will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.

The Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham will hold the event again on Friday, August 7.
