WOODS HOLE – Peer reviewers from NOAA will analyze assessments for Northeast groundfish stocks from September 9 to 13.
Review meetings and public comment periods will be held at the Northeast Fisheries Science Center’s Clark Conference Room in Woods Hole.
New data for these assessments include updated catch and survey data, the newly revised estimates of recreational catch, and for some stocks, estimates of the federal bottom trawl’s catch efficiency.
Stock assessments describe the status of a fish stock at a particular point in time by characterizing the size of the population, their ability to reproduce, and death through fishing and natural mortality.
The assessments are the results of data collected from research surveys and fisheries sources.
