One Injured in Three-Car Sandwich Crash

ER medical symbolSANDWICH – A three-car crash at the intersection of Route 6A and Quaker Meetinghouse Road in Sandwich sent one person to the hospital today.

The accident happened at about 1:10 p.m., according to an official at the Sandwich Fire Department.

Mary Garvey, 83, of Sandwich was traveling west on Route 6A, stopped and then attempted to turn left onto Quaker Meetinghouse Road. In turning, she crossed in front of a car driven by Benjamin Canning, 23, also of Sandwich who was traveling east.

The two cars collided and one car spun into a third car driven by Tara Ring, 42, also of Sandwich.

The people in the other two cars were reportedly not injured, according to the fire official. He said he did not yet know the cause of the crash.

The accident caused traffic to stop and then slow as cars were diverted on side roads.

Mary Garvey was cited for failure to grant right of way.
