ORLEANS –  A busy stretch for shark researchers continued Friday as the 5th shark was tagged off Cape Cod since Monday.

That brings the season total to 19.

The latest was a 15-footer, just south of the Nauset Beach parking lot in Orleans.

The 18th shark of the 2016 season was tagged Wednesday by state shark researcher, Dr. Greg Skomal, off the Nauset Inlet. Three were tagged on Monday, including a 15-footer off Truro.

The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy is in the third year of a five-year white shark population study.
