HYANNIS PORT – This weekend marks one of the largest charitable events of the summer as the Best Buddies Challenge Hyannis Port celebrates its 18th year.

More than 2,500 are expected to participate in the weekend-long fundraiser to support people with developmental disabilities.

The event begins Friday with the Tom Brady Football Challenge at Harvard Stadium in Boston. A number of Brady’s teammates are expected to join the five-time Super Bowl champion for the annual flag football game, including Julian Edelman, James White, Dion Lewis, Chris Hogan, and Rob Ninkovich. Former Patriots Christian Fauria, Dan Koppen, and Scott Zolak are also expected to attend.

On Saturday, hundreds of cyclists will bike 100 miles from Boston to Hyannis Port as part of the challenge. There is also a 50-mile route, starting at the CVS in Carver, and a 20-mile route, beginning at the CVS on Tupper Road in Sandwich.

The Carl Lewis run or walk 5K will be held at Craigville Beach at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

The Challenge wraps up Saturday night with a clambake and a private concert for participants by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

Brady is once again serving as one of the honorary co-chairs of the event, along with celebrity chef Guy Fieri, Massachusetts Congressman Joseph Kennedy III, and Ted English, the Executive Chairman of Bob’s Discount Furniture.

“Best Buddies is a fantastic organization with a great message to spread, and I am proud to support their work,” Brady said. “I hope my role as Honorary Co-Chair will continue to bring attention to the organization’s mission of friendship and inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the world.”

Brady serves as the Global Ambassador for the non-profit.

“We are delighted to be returning to Massachusetts for our 18th Annual Hyannis Port Challenge and we are thrilled that Tom Brady, Guy Fieri, and Congressman Joseph Kennedy III will join us as Honorary Chairmen,” said Anthony Kennedy Shriver, Founder and Chairman of Best Buddies International.
