Truck Accident Causes Traffic Delays in Orleans

police04ORLEANS- The Orleans Police Department received a call about a single vehicle accident involving a large box truck versus tree, and that there were wires in the roadway near Academy Place and Tonset Road yesterday around 3:15 p.m.

While en route, it was reported that the box truck may have left the area headed east on Main Street.

Officer Casey Eagan, while responding from East Orleans, discovered the large box truck off the road near Monument road, with a large tree branch embedded into the side of the truck.

The investigation revealed that the box truck had travelled off the road near academy place, struck a tree then continued along Main Street with the branch protruding from the box.

Several mailboxes, street signs, trees and private signs were damaged as the truck traveled the half mile distance.

A portion of Main Street was shut down for around three hours while the truck was removed.

Police say the driver of the truck appeared to have suffered some form of medical emergency.

The accident remains under investigation.
