NORTH FALMOUTH – Hundreds of Cape Cod women are attending an all-day conference at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in Falmouth today to listen to a number of speakers.

Driven Women: Cape Cod’s Conference for Women seeks to engage local professionals and collaborate growth.

“Cape Cod’s Conference for Women is more than just a conference. It’s a destination and also a movement,” said Marie Younger Blackburn, the event’s organizer. “And we drive this movement year round.”

Attendees are hearing from Cape and Islands United Way President Barbara Milligan, Calmer Choice founder Fiona Jensen, and 22 other speakers. The event will feature two keynote speakers, Michelle Mona Thompson and Donna Mac. Thompson is a national speaker, entrepreneur, philanthropist and author of “I Will Rise.” Mac is a veteran broadcaster who has worked at stations in Boston, Providence and Worcester for more than 25 years.

Attendees will also participate in breakout groups, networking and shopping from dozens of vendors.

“What I would hope to accomplish is that we would realize, as women here on Cape Cod, that we are better together than we are apart,” Blackburn said. “That we have the opportunity to work together and continue to grow ourselves and our economy and by doing so we could be the change in our own communities.”

This is the second year the event has been held.
