Yarmouth Kicks Off the Summer with a 10-Day Celebration

fireworksYARMOUTH – Yarmouth is kicking off the summer season with a bang.

The town begins their 10-day Summer Celebration Kick-off tonight with a fireworks show at South Middle Beach.

Events for the rest of the celebration include a beach barbecue on Saturday night, Kite Night on Sunday, Ice Cream social on Tuesday and a Bark in the Park Dog Parade on July 2.

“It’s really just to get people excited about the summer, get everyone around to local businesses and just to really celebrate the summer season,” said Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce Marketing, Communications and Events Director Ashley Cormier.

Throughout the celebration, visitors will be able to see 38 three-ton sand sculptures being crafted at local businesses.

The majority of events are free to the public and are funded by a grant from the Yarmouth Tourism and Preservation Fund.

New events to this year’s celebration include a Taylor Bray Farm Day on Sunday, Beer and Wine Tasting on Thursday and Blessing of the Boats on July 2.

“It’s great for supporting local businesses, hotels, restaurants, and other shops and everything we have here in Yarmouth,” said Cormier. It’s a great week to have people here and get the kick-off to the summer.”
