YARMOUTH – As the Town of Yarmouth continues to consider the future of the town’s former Drive-In site, the property will be used for a music festival next week.

The town has owned the 22-acre site for more than three decades and has been anxious to utilize the space. A drive-in site utilization committee has been reviewing usage options including the creation of a park and boardwalk.

Appearing at a selectmen’s meeting last week, committee members advocated a boardwalk loop at the property’s southern end and has been debating an extension which would take it across the Parker’s River Marsh to Sea Gull Beach.

In the meantime, the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce and Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the Yarmouth Summer Music Festival at the Route 28 location on Saturday, August 18th.

Event organizer Pat McDonough said that this festival will be a good test of the property’s viability as a function spot.

“When we got onto the land we saw the benefits and what we could possibly done in that area,” he said, “so, we spoke with the Town of Yarmouth about having a few other events just to kind of test the waters and see what’s needed as far as power or water.”

The show begins at noontime and will feature live Irish music from 1PM through 5:30, followed by Country performers until things wrap-up at 10 PM.

The festival will also include Corn Hole tournaments, children’s rides, inflatables, vendors, food trucks, and booze.

Tickets are available at the gat for $15 for adults, $5 for youth, kids 12 and under are free.
