YMCA Cape Cod and Cape Cod Tech Team-Up to Serve Lower Cape Families

HARWICH –  After a recent survey, members of YMCA Cape Cod and the Lower Cape community have found a growing need for affordable early childhood education.

In an effort to solve this dilemma, The Y is partnering with Cod Regional Technical High School to operate and expand Cape Cod Tech’s existing early education program, beginning in September of this year, and will hold a meeting next week to discuss the topic.

“As we were preparing to go to the new building project we did do an assessment of all of our programs, and unfortunately we did have to downsize. This relationship with the YMCA allows for the continuation of important programs for families on the Cape,” said Robert Sanborn, Superintendent of Cape Tech.

“We are excited to have a partnership with the YMCA to continue to provide pre-school and toddler childcare services going forward, as our early childhood program is going to be phasing out next year,” Sanborn said.

YMCA Cape Cod President & CEO, Stacie Peugh as well as Sanborn, will host the session to share more about the Y’s program offering and learn more about family needs for early education and care.

During the meeting families will be invited to engage in an open dialogue with these community leaders to offer their thoughts and have an opportunity to ask questions.

Talks get underway June 4th at 6 p.m. at the Cape Tech High School.
