Cape Cod Academy Sailors Remain Flawless in Quad Meet Win

OSTERVILLE – With deep, dark clouds rolling in and a stinging April wind howling across West Bay, the Cape Cod Academy Seahawks were anything but disheartened.

finished the Seahawks remained unbeaten on the spring at 6-0.

The Seahawks defeated Sharon, Falmouth and Dartmouth last week to start the spring campaign. In Wednesday afternoon’s race at the Wianno Yacht Club, Cape Cod Academy defeated Bishop Stang, 3-2, in the first race and downed Nauset, 2-0 in the second, while following suit with a 2-0 win over Barnstable.

More detailed results were not made available after the race for Cape Cod Academy and Nauset.

Barnstable, in just its second day together as a team since the hiring earlier this week of former Red Raider captain Sam Mazzeo as the program’s new head coach, fared quite well all things considered.

Annie Spence (Skipper) and Maddie Spero (Crew) participated in all races for the Red Raiders, while Burke Egan-Walsh (Skipper) and Ginny Yeatts (Crew), along with Caden Buckley (Skipper) and Ian Steenstra (Crew) raced against Bishop Stang

Bishop Stang defeated the Red Raiders, 3-1.

Burke Egan-Walsh (Skipper) and Ian Steenstra  (Crew) sailed against Nauset and Cape Cod Academy, as well as Matt Hersey (Skipper) and Mikayla Mathieu (Crew).

Barnstable (1-2) defeated the Nauset Warriors, 2-0, but fell, as noted above, to Cape Cod Academy, 2-0.
