Cape League Report – August 10th, 2016

Over 4,000 fans were in attendance at Veteran’s Field last night in Chatham, but many of them were disappointed as the Angler’s season came to a close. The Y-D Red Sox entered the 9th inning with a 3-1 lead and extended that lead with an RBI double from right fielder Corey Dempster. The Red Sox’ postseason reputation continues to be a dominant one as they beat Chatham 4-1 to write their ticket to the championship series.

Over in the West, it was a closer battle. The Falmouth Commodores forced a game 3 with a win in Bourne. Falmouth was down a run heading into the 8th but a pair of RBI doubles from Cadyn Grenier and Michael Gigliotti put the ‘dores on top and Bourne just couldn’t answer back. The Final score in Bourne was Falmouth 5, Braves 4.

The final game of the West Division Final is tonight in Falmouth. The winner of this 6:00 start will face Y-D to compete for the league title.
