Dolphins Hammer Out 19 Hits, Conley Leads Way Again

SOUTH YARMOUTH – Dennis-Yarmouth lead-off hitter Taylor Conley must be working extra hard in the batting cage of late, as the sure-wristed shortstop went 4-5 Wednesday night and scored four runs to pace the Dolphins to a 15-3 win over the visiting Nauset Warriors (1-14).

The Dolphins also received a pair of triples from centerfielder Patty Newhard and two hits apiece from backstop Maggie Johnson, Hailey Miller, Abby Higgins and Ali Plucinski in a torrential 19-hit attack the Warriors simply had no answer for.

Dennis-Yarmouth’s Miller stepped into the circle for the second straight game and did not fail to provide complete efficiency as she went the distance and struck out nine. She struck out the side twice – in the second and third frames – and struck out the side in succession in the second inning. She allowed three runs on five hits and walked four for her second straight pitching victory. She has 19 strikeouts in her last two outings.

Nauset’s leadoff hitter Natalie Keagul hit a two-run triple in the fourth inning.

Dennis-Yarmouth plated one run in the second, four in the third, two in the fourth and four each in the fifth and sixth innings en route to the 15-3 finale.

Nauset is slated to wrap up its season on Tuesday at home against Cape Cod Tech. The Dolphins are scheduled to play again Thursday (May 21) in the continuation of the Cape Cod Showdown.
