Cape Cod Bird Club Announces October Meeting Program

BREWSTER – The Cape Cod Bird Club has announced the program for its October meeting, as well as events throughout the month.

The club meets on Monday, October 8 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster. The meeting will introduce this month’s program, John Van de Graaff – “Roaming for Birds in Europe, 2001-2018”.

The program features photos from Van de Graaff’s digital presentation. Van de Graff has traveled frequently and photographed across the Americas and Europe. He’s given dozens of digital presentations, mainly to birding and photography groups, including most of the major bird clubs in Massachusetts.

Van de Graff’s photographs are shown in major galleries and museums throughout New England. He presents annually at the Hampshire Bird Club in Northampton and is an active member of the Pioneer Valley Photographic Artists (PVPA).

The club also invites area residents to free walks in October.  Registration is requested on the behalf of organizers.

On Saturday, October 13 at 7:00 a.m. the club heads to Scusset Beach State Park in Sagamore to walk around the camping sites, beach front and forests.  A variety of birds from waterfowl to passerines will be seen.  The group will at the parking lot nearest the concession stands.

The Club then heads to Fort Hill in Eastham on Saturday, October 27 at 1:30PM for a walk along the loop trail.  Members plan to also watch the marsh during the incoming tide in hopes of those secretive sparrows being pushed up by the water.  High tide is at 2:17PM.
