WOODS HOLE – The first federally permitted offshore mussel aquaculture project on the east coast is set to get underway soon.
The project, a partnership between scientists and fishermen, is set to begin operating next spring.
A 30 acre parcel in Nantucket Sound will be used to grow blue mussels using special new technology that reduces risks to other marine species.
