CHATHAM – Roadwork will resume in West Chatham on Tuesday.
The work is part of the two year reconfiguration of the area between Barn Hill Road and George Ryder Road, which began last fall.
“When it’s all said and done, I think it will be a nice finished product. There will be a few minor inconveniences along the way as they’re doing the construction, but the end product should be nice for the community,” said Chatham Department of Public Works Director Tom Temple.
The reconfiguration will narrow this section of road from three to two lanes. It is also designed to improve the safety of pedestrians by slowing traffic down.
Temple is confident that law enforcement officials will make this transition as smooth as possible.
“I think the state will leave it up to the Town of Chatham Police Department to make sure that the traffic movements are all where they need to go,” Temple said.
Construction is set to continue until the winter, when another break is scheduled.
